Who’s the winner?
Dear Competition bloggers,
I’ll start with the usual things to say about how the entries were great, it being a difficult choice and any choice is a personal choice - because it’s true! I’ve had a giggle over all of them.
I find it very easy to empathise with Charlotte Baker’s imagined rage at: ‘Do you want fries with that?’ I enjoyed visions of cats, vases, parachutes and bears – well, perhaps ‘enjoy’ is not quite the word, but then I do like the cartoons in Private Eye so what can I say in my defence?
The contributors who came up with a bunch of suggestions – that’s you Klaus and Ormsby - deserve a mention for your generosity. Yours were excellent ‘Good Questions’ Klaus. I particularly liked your ‘What am I looking forward to today?’ (actually a pretty good last question on various levels if thou think about it). Had a giggle at the subtlety of ‘Why does that always happen to you?’ My favourite from Ormsby was ‘can I try?’ I was intrigued wondering what fatality might be caused by an I pod Anne. Steve Halls’ question is a good example of the ‘Good Question wrong moment variety’ and so is ‘Are you a starter or a finisher?.
In fact I could sit here all day writing about all of your Famous last Questions because they were so good. In the end I’ve plumped for : ‘So you think being out here in the jungle is going to re-launch our careers? Sent in by Julie Kay. Why? It conjures up silly visions from a particular reality show that I watched the once(promise only onceJ ) and it digs at what some people will do for publicity.
I hope you have enjoyed this competition – a bit of fun for sure and publicity at the same time, though less drastic than whoever asked Kay’s question! I hope you are inspired by Good Question! and that if you haven’t read it yet that you enjoy it thoroughly and find some very helpful questions – with better outcomes than the famous last questions you all sent in.
From the range of people who have already appreciated Good Question! I can confidently suggest it as a good Christmas present for just about anybody in your circle. Bookshaker are offering free postage to anywhere in the world right now, so do look at all of their books too. And I can’t let the moment slip by without a good question of my own (well, expanded from George Metcalfe’s ‘Who do you know who…..:
Who do you know who would really appreciate Good Question! and who would make good use of it? And if some names come to mind add good Question to your Christmas present list please J
People keep asking me to turn Good Question! into an audio book, and then sometime next year you’d be able to listen on your I Pod Nano Kay.
So well done Kay and many thanks to you all.
Wishing you all the best for Christmas and in completing the tasks of the year.
Kind regards,
Judy
