Having made the decision to emigrate to Australia from the UK, I was constantly amazed at just how many times I found myself staring blankly back at people with vacant disbelief.
I was completely unaware that a country so similar to Britain could bombard me with a hoard of unexplained phrases, traditions and pronunciations - after all, we speak to same language and drive on the proper side of the road. Luckily, from the day I stepped onto the red soil of Oz, I took note of the little (and big) differences and soon found myself thoroughly enjoying the weird and sometimes uncomfortable experiences that living in another country can bring.
My new book, 'Didgeridoos & Didgeridon'ts' is a collection of diary entries, top tips and helpful information not available in any other books, to help get you through your first year down under.... and encourage you to hang on in there and not join the 'to and from pom' gang!
I am now living on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland with my husband and three children..... and lovin' the Aussie way of life.
Feel free to check out my blog at www.australiauncovered.com and contact me if you want to really know anything about life down under.
