About Me:

I have lived in Barcelona since 1988, where I met my wife a year later. In many respects, meeting Montse was the key moment for everything that has happened since. I fell in love with a Barcelona girl when I was already emphatuated by the city, and all of a sudden became a citizen of Barcelona and of Catalonia, privy to a private side of the Catalans that few foreigners ever see.

My affinity for Catalonia also led me to leave the British Council in favour of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and to write 'Going Native in Catalonia'.
