Live: South Devon, 5 minutes walk to the beach. Surrounded by green fields.
Family: 1 daughter, 1 husband.
Work: PR and marketing. HQ of business is still in Bromsgrove, I'm heading up the "southern expansion"
Interests: Saving green spaces, sustainability, making a difference.
Relaxation: Reading (of course!), writing, walking dog on the beach, cooking, eating, drinking good wine (though after a couple of glasses I couldn't tell the difference)
How I'd like people to think of me: Professional, creative and enthusiastic, always goes over and above the call of duty. Strategic and intuitive.
How they probably think of me: Loud, gritty, determined, forthright, impulsive and lucky.
Love: My friends and family, books, the internet, plants/gardening, start up businesses (the energy is amazing), the sea.
Hate: Tesco's, slipping on sea-weed, landfill sites, climate change, Tesco's, over-wrapped produce, oppressive regimes, Tesco's. Did I mention I hate Tesco's?
General:
I seem to end up spending a lot of my time saving green spaces, having succeeded twice in preventing Tesco's from building on community and recreation land. It's tough work and takes up a lot of time. So in my "spare" time, I love to spend time with my my family, walking the dog and enjoying the beautiful scenery where we live. (All the time looking out for planning notices, of course!). Other than the outdoors life, I also really enjoy entertaining and cooking, trying out recipes on unsuspecting friends and family!
My background is electronic engineering, but since graduating I have done different activities and work, apart from a stint at teaching mathematics. Outside work my interests are studying history and occasional travelling. My favourite programs are The Business Channel, The Apprentice, and Top Gear. Although I enjoy watching snooker a lot, this years' final was an anticlimax! Still good to watch...
Aside various employment posts, I did do some volunteer work at charities such as The Prince's Trust, and Environmental Vision. I am on the Management Committee of Longbridge Advice and Resource Centre (LARC) which provides help for making CV, attending interviews and writing application forms. LARC provided support when former employees of Rover became redundant after the local plant closed.
I did teach mathematics on placements and part of doing a PGCE course is learning about Pedagogy (how to teach) and discussing HOW people learn. Very interesting I assure you.

I enjoy reading about Paleontology, Physics, History, Geopolitics and studying Mathematics.
If 'Paleoanthropology' is a bit cumbersome here is a short introduction
Paleontology: The study of prehistoric life forms.
Anthropology: The study of humanity.
Paleoanthropology: The study of prehistoric humans.
Talking about Anthropology, I am also very interested in the history of language and for those who are interested I strongly recommend EMPIRES OF THE WORD A Language History of the World by Nicholas Ostler.
I'm the author of Starting a Business in Italy: how to set up and run a successful business in the Bel Paese and the co-director of HowToItaly.
I live in my very own corner of paradise on the north coast of Sardinia. Summer lasts six months of the year and when I'm not working, I'm swimming in the sea, drinking frothy cappuccinos or drinking local wine in cheap but fantastic restaurants nearby.
I love flying kites, crunchy peanut butter, walking barefoot on the beach, drinking wine, swimming in the sea, ER, meeting new friends, watersports, warm croissants oozing apricot jam, travelling, learning languages, people watching, discovering new things, documentaries, blogging, marmite, my ipod, hanging out with friends,
I'm an independent HR consultant 9trading as ' The Personnel Dept') trying to help SME's tackle their employment issues and adopt best practice or best fit methods of HR Management. Enjoy sorting out businesses issues and helping save their time and hassle

I am passionate about life and becoming the best I can be (in terms of the depth and richness of my life experiences and any challenges I set for myself along the journey) and helping others achieve the same. I enjoy the fact that there is always more to learn and there are always ways of helping people even better - life is such an exciting journey of discovery! I make a point of surrounding myself with other positive, warm, exciting people - I find it contageous.
I love personal development and have made it my career. I also love reading, my heart leaps for joy when I go on walks in the countryside, I enjoy travel and exploration, I love good veggie food, good wine, good company. I adore spending time with my daughter Sophie who is a constant source of inspiration to me - aren't youngsters so very much 'in the moment' !!! They are so honest and expressive - whether Sophie has just woken up with sheer delight that it is a brand new day or screaming like crazy because she is hungry, it is raw and it is honest - no masks, no pretense at all at her age! Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone kept that sense of wonder, adventure, honesty and tendency to be 'in the moment' all the way through their lives! And isn't life so 'real' when we are living like that!
I believe that success in life starts on the inside - by knowing that you have choice about what you experience, by sending and receiving tons of love, by having loads of gratitude, by paying attention moment by moment, by communicating with self and others effectively, by knowing your magnificent self-worth, by expecting the best, and by connecting with people with positive intention and with a 'can help, can do' attitude. The pinnacle of success in my opinion is living openly and freely as your true magnificent self with certainty that you are perfect in your imperfection.
I have a belief that making the choice to have an amazing life is the best decision anyone can make.
