Bob Hayward

First Name:
Bob
About Me:

In addition to my work with Internal Communication I am also a Director of this crisis intervention charity I'm committed to raise around £45,000 each year to enable this organisation to function. Foodbank uses a ground-breaking concept to help individuals and families in crisis by providing free emergency food until the appropriate agencies are in a position to assist. In 2007 Swindon Foodbank received 1079 referrals from the Professional Care Agencies in the town and provided those people with food until the State Benefit kicked in. It can take between 7 and 33 days for fresh or altered benefit claims to come through and Foodbank fills that void.

Normally I am running in four 1/2 marathons a year, or a few full marathons ~ 2007 was the first year since 1999 that my health let me down and I did not run beyond the end of my street..!

In 2003, I bought into a Swedish Corporate Strategic Internal Communication tool developed by Bengt-Arne Svennberg and Kent Fälth to improve employee engagement through enhanced internal communciation in the 1000+ employee corporate organisations. And so OPC (UK) Ltd was born.

In case you were wondering… OPC Stands for the Optimum Process of Communication.

We use strategic internal communcation to engage twice the critical mass an organisation requires to ensure an initiative is launched successfully in less than four hours, We create a top-down and bottom-up avalanche and give birth to the organisation's ambitions within the hearts and minds of every individual.

I get involved with the research, design and delivery with Bengt-Arne and have shaped a number of mission critical internal communication and employee engagement projects for British, Swedish and Global companies since early 2003.

The OPC Process® ~ is a new and highly successful method for spreading knowledge across an enterprise, strategic internal communication and employee engagement. It cascades any message throughout an organisation more effectively and imbeds it faster than ever before.

The OPC Process ® is just as effective on large global organisations as on a one site enterprise that needs internal branding, employee engagement or internal strategic communication. It has been used by organisations to present the same key message to over 50.000 participants in over 31 different languages and countries

The OPC Process® enables an organisation to deliver strategic internal communication of any key message in a way that engages and energises many employees simultaneously. This is accomplished through a distinct pedagogical format which ensures employees have an opportunity to explore and also brings stability and consistency to the process.

On the personal side; Working with a coach called Nick Heap recently enabled me to gain further insight into my purpose. This I now understand as Oozing Light Apart from my work on internal communicationand employee engagement, my one greatest passion is being a source of l.i.g.h.t. ~ love ~ inspiration ~ growth ~ happiness and truth to others especially my family and friends. I am married with four children (oldest born in 1980 & youngest in 1987). I live in Swindon, run the local Alpha Course at the Church I attend ~ St John's ~ and in 2005 I helped start a Food Bank for the 1 in 5/6 people in this great town of 180,000 who are "income deprived." Have a look at what the Salisbury Food Bank is accomplishing. Read the latest up date on the Swindon Food Bank here While I love all of the items I've listed in the 50 words (outside of internal communications and employee engagement), in addition to my wife Julie, I especially love Spurs my football team (land of my birth), Lord of the Rings (best book outside the Bible/best film since Star Wars), and running ~ preferable half marathons upwards. In 2001 I ran from Land's End to John O'Groats in 40 days (33 marathons ~ 3 shorter runs and four days of rest). This was to raise money for a boy called Podge who was very severely burnt (60+% 3rd degree burns) by another 12 year old. Take a look at the whole story on www.givetheladachance.co.uk ~ the site has not been updated recently but it does describe what happened to Podge and most of the lessons I learnt of the run. I love selling, training, facilitating, coaching and speaking. I have been heavily influenced by the work of Eric Jensen on Brain Based Learning and Dale Carnegie on HR and presentation skills. I am energetic, passionate, enthusiastic and believe in commitment and ownership. The whole democratic approach we have to internal communication and employee engagement fits very well with my essential value and beliefs.

Hi there.

I'm the author of Starting a Business in Italy: how to set up and run a successful business in the Bel Paese and the co-director of HowToItaly.

I live in my very own corner of paradise on the north coast of Sardinia. Summer lasts six months of the year and when I'm not working, I'm swimming in the sea, drinking frothy cappuccinos or drinking local wine in cheap but fantastic restaurants nearby.

I'm currently working on my next two books.

Leigh Hunt

First Name:
Leigh
About Me:

I'm a Mumpreneur with wanderlust. As an advocate for the 'lifestyle business', I love to share my experiences of creating a great work/life balance by running my own businesses from home. Lifestyle businesses are often seen as somehow sub-standard and not making a contribution to the economy.  An opinion that baffles me!  I believe that life is about more than dollar signs, it's about a quality of life that produces genuine happiness.  Not all of us want to build huge corporations and gain venture capital.  And whilst I say kudos to those who do, let's not undermine the contribution that lifestyle businesses make to a happy society as a whole.

I run a training and support company for mums starting home based businesses, which is developing very nicely!  I'm married with a one year old daughter and after almost 5 years back in the UK we're ready to take the plunge and up roots to the Caribbean very soon. In addition to writing a book, I'm currently focussed on building a business model that makes me time rich and location free.  I'm sure I'll be sharing the ups and downs on this here. But one things is for sure, it's time for some unadulterated risk and reward!

About Me:

My life purpose is to 'share what I know to help others to grow' and I have been doing just this through my writing (books and articles), teaching, keynote speaking and consultancy for about 20 years, I guess. I 'know' about writing, publishing and running a portable business based on what I love to do. You see, I am married to a man who works in the oil industry and we have been overseas (now in our fifth country) since the day after we got married in 1987. Luckily, my passion for writing has become the perfect portable career, or 'career in my suitcase'. I am an expat entrepreneur. All my books have grown out of something I have done for myself - networking, finding my passion, being an entrepreneur and of course, writing.

My clients, friends and readers say I am both inspiring and empowering. That is what I hope to achieve in everything I do.

I now live in The Hague, with Ian and our boys, Sam (16) and Josh (14), a cat (Lily) and about six electric guitars, a drum kit, piano, PA system and a huge poster of the crowd at a Metallica concert on the wall! Like me, the men in my life know what they love to do too!

About Me:

I believe in coaching as a means to effect powerful change.  This has led me to debate and advocate many aspects of coaching.  I have appeared on BBC Radio Stoke, Merseyside and Manchester for interviews and phone-in coaching, and wrote a regular newspaper coaching column for over three years.

My Executive Coaching practice is just about to enter its 8th year.  In 2006 by combining my learning from coaching leaders in organisations www.thedirectorscoach.com with educational input from Jack Stewart, I co-authored my first book - ‘The Coaching Parent’, www.thecoachingparent.com

This meant the creation of an accessible, readily available approach to help adults provide younger members of society with a means to realise their talents.  Previously workshops had proven time consuming, reaching relatively small numbers.  Now through the Internet, this work is available in many countries including France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Japan and the United States of America.  That means a lot to me, as my aim is to make a difference with this work in as many parts of the world as possible.

I am married to Laura, have two daughters, Nicole and Anne-Marie, and three grandchildren, Marcus, Aiden and Annika.
