Submitting A Gift For an ABS Campaign

Here's our guide for what makes a good bonus.

  1. Valuable to the receiver / buyer. It's no good offering “How To Love Everyone and Be Loved By Everyone” to an audience who are buying a book about Bare Knuckle Negotiating! The buyer really might not see the value in it.

  2. Be of high quality, well prepared, presented and packaged. Poorly produced items lower the perceived quality of the book we are asking people to buy and have a negative impact on everyone else involved.

  3. Must have an actual “value” attached.  It's very easy to get carried away when you're valuing your own products. You know it took you months to create and it's great. There's nothing else quite like it and everyone loves your audio-podcast-mini-blog-thingy. It must be worth at least fifty quid! Well in the business world an item is worth what people are prepared to pay for it. So, if people are prepared to pay £50, and you've made sales of it at that price, then by all means value it at £50.

But if you've never sold it, then err on the side of caution. Nothing stinks more than a 3 page ebook based on the Acres Of Diamonds (freely available all over the bloody internet) priced at £19.97!

  4. Must have an upsell for the contributor. The biggest mistake people make when submitting a bonus is to forget to put their contact details (or a call to action) in the back of their e-books, audios, and offers. We want you to benefit from the campaign too! So make it easy for people to get in touch with you or buy your stuff.

  5. Bonuses should be available on your website, after a sign up screen. This way you really get to know who downloaded your information and you get the opportunity to follow up in the future.

  6. They must be electronically available products or services that are immediately available. E-books, audio downloads, free email or telephone mentoring, etc. Physical products create huge problems, for you and the buyer. Physical products need to be “sent” to the buyer, which means you need to collect their contact details. In a campaign that will go out to 1000's of people posting all those physical bonuses might cost you dearly!

  7. The bonus should ideally be available to everyone who buys.
