The Beautiful Game in Sunny Spain
Submitted by Simon Harris on Fri, 05/12/2008 - 6:37pm.Wow! This has been an amazing but overwhelming week. My idea to write a book on Spanish Football led me to setting up a website at www.Spain-Football.Org exactly a month ago. I'd had the experience of basically blogging 90% of Going Native in Catalonia on www.native-spain.com and so when I came to sitting down write most of the major themes were well-developed.
Why Its Good To Make Friends With Your Neighbours
Submitted by Yolanda Solo on Thu, 10/07/2008 - 9:15am.Our van broke down - again - yesterday and the first garage we took it to said that it was probably a serious problem that would cost about €1000 to fix. Now bearing in mind the van is about 10 years old this is a huge amount of money and we have to decide whether it is worth spending that amount or somehow finding the money to buy a new one.

Loo With A View
Submitted by debsjenkins on Thu, 19/06/2008 - 10:39am.One of the things I noticed when visiting friends at the weekend was that their loo had a lovely view!
Instead of reading a magazine or the back of the shampoo bottle I was able to gaze up the mountain, into the pine forests and watch the birds and the bees do their thing, whilst going about my important business.
I estimate that I spend about 30 minutes each day on the loo (sometimes more if I have a good book on the go!) - that's 30 minutes of viewing time.

Compare mortgage offers in Spain
Submitted by Yolanda Solo on Thu, 08/05/2008 - 2:22pm.Finally there is a website where you can compare all the offers in one place! Bankimia.com is a new service that searches all the offers from the different banks, lists them in order of monthly payments and has an easy to view checklist with the requirements for each offer.
While you obviously still have to check the fine details with each bank, it means you have compare a much wider range of offers at a glance.

Starting a Business in Spain Could Be a One-Way Ticket To Financial Ruin
Submitted by Yolanda Solo on Wed, 09/04/2008 - 4:45pm.Many Brits move to Spain thinking they'll easily start up a new business there and live happily ever after. Unfortunately a large percentage of these Expats face financial ruin due to lack of knowledge, poor financial planning and unrealistic expectations. As a result many expats return home poorer and disillusioned having found it impossible to establish an income in Spain and using all of
their savings to survive.
The True Cost of Mortgages in Spain
Submitted by Yolanda Solo on Mon, 24/12/2007 - 4:39pm.A few years ago the range of mortgages available in Spain was relatively limited – however the rate of interest was also low so this was not such an issue. However, over the last couple of years, the alarming increase in mortgage rates appears to have helped speed up the introduction of a variety of new mortgages such as: multi-currency mortgages, 50 years mortgages and long term interest-only mortgages to name but a few.
