I was recently interviewed by Die Welt. I can no longer remember what they asked me but as I glance through the article I see I recognise many names. Andrea Martins of ExpatWoman is there for one, and I seem to get the lion’s share of the column inches. If you read German do take a look online here.
A guild dispute ended in a real world meet and a brutal beating, the victim dying on the way to the hospital. This is the third MMO-related murder in just under a year that has taken place in Russia. Lineage II seems to be lethal, if your online nemeses are weak of mind with powerful fists in real life.
33-year-old Albert used to spend hours in front of his computer. On the web he had his own clan and a dozen of warriors. Just days before the New Year in a virtual battle his clan killed a member of the hostile Coo-clocks.
SHANGHAI — “World of Warcraft” has hit a new high in China, with the massively multiplayer online game registering more than 1 million players online at one time, local distributor The9 said Monday.
The figure marks a 25% increase in peak concurrent users since the last time an official count was revealed — Oct. 4, 2007 — when 800,000 were said to be simultaneously, according to spokeswoman for The9.

Yes, loved by some and hated by others, tomorrow is 4/1, April 1st, known around the world (or at least the Internet) as April Fool's Day, and odds are that you'll have a lot of fools trying to play with your head. As you probably know, our friends at Blizzard love April Fool's, so you can probably expect to see some shenanigans from them tomorrow.
Just to get you ready, here's a quick roundup of what they've done in the past few years. It seems like they've been upping the ante for a while now, so be "prepared": you never know what we might hear from them tomorrow.

As we approach Mother’s Day (Sunday 02 March) and think about how our own mother is “one in a million”, take a moment to reflect on the experience of a mother I met last year.
Perhaps you have been dating a man who seems to be very caring, loving & supportive. You wonder & want to seek relationship advice, “Is he the right man for me?” How do you know if Mr. Right is going to be that man who will be willing to commit to a meaningful relationship & is a person who you can feel comfortable with for the rest of your life? Here are a few guidelines that might help you make that decision.

Christmas will soon be here and with it the parties, excitement and change of routine. But it won't be long until we find ourselves back on the treadmill of our normal, every day lives. Each January, I greet the onslaught of a new year, and the resolutions that go with it, with a mixture of dread and anticipation.
Winter is here, and I hate to say it, but I for one am delighted. Don’t get me wrong, I love the heat and I appreciate that everything looks better when the sun is out.

Marian Weston, author of At Home Alone, published by Swift Transitions has just read Confident Networking by Gael and Stuart Lindenfield and would really like to recommend it.
As you know, networking cannot be escaped if you are to run your own business, so expat entrepreneurs need to know about this book. Marian writes:
I have just heard that there are lots of part-time jobs going at Global Connection - a spousal support organisation based near Gouda, that has a magazine for which I write a column.
They are a super team and currently need a web-master, web editor, trainer, trainee and account managers. All are part-time and they are a pretty flexible lot.
If you are to have a career that works for you and is sustainable despite moving around the world then it is vital that you first find your passion. How can you expect to get up in the morning day after day and be desperate for the day ahead if you don't really like your job?
This book, created after 20 years of working for myself, has 20 tips and 20 tasks as well as more than 20 case studies and tons of examples from my own life. Believe me, it works. What's more it sells to everyone from teens to those past retirement and they all tell me they love it.
I've been an expat for almost 20 years now and have managed to maintain my career throughout this time, even through five countries, two kids, endless visitors , , , ,by being a writer. I have written books, articles, copy, columns and allsorts. And now I teach about it too and my Book Cooks business offers a 'complete menu of services from brainwave to bookshelf'. So, I guess, I made it work.
Ever had one of those conversations, either with other people
or with yourself, that goes something like this: One day I
will do what I want to do ...(write a book, travel the world,
run my own business ... you fill in the blanks) or If only I
had x, I could do y...?
Whenever I hear myself say things like that, I ask myself
the following 3 questions:
1. What if I could do (whatever I'm putting off) now?
I'm sure you like me have said or heard 'I can't' many times
in your life. What happens when you say it? For me, it means
finality, a full stop, the end. 'I can't' and that's it, and
there's no point in even trying.
How useful would it be to have more luck in your life? How
would that change things for you? If you're interested and
keen to be luckier, read on for 3 ways to improve your
chances.
Wouldn't it be great if you could get from a book what you
want in less than 10 minutes? (I'm talking here about non-
fiction rather than those fiction books which you want to
take your time over!). How much time might you save? How
many more books could you then read?
You could of course go on a speed-reading or photo-reading
course, which teaches you to read faster or to skim read,
but if you can't afford the time or the money to do that
right now, read on for some handy tips:
When I was researching what to write for my new website, I
came across examples of how people present themselves
differently to how we might think.
For example, Tesco's doesn't call itself a supplier but
rather 'a buyer on behalf of our customers.' That small
difference in words is a major difference in perspective -
it changes from pushing people to accept what you offer to
pulling people towards you because you have what they want.
I have just finished a telephone coaching session. My client
phoned half an hour before the agreed time, obviously
believing he was phoning at the right time.
I had the radio on, computer on, my desk was covered in papers and I wasn't at all prepared! So what to do?
Well, first of all, I turned the radio and computer off!
Then, two options came to mind as we were doing the
'how are you?' bit:
