The Language of flowers and a business model

(Click on photo to enlarge) Today I decided to pick a flower photo that is beautiful, look at it and then decide what to write about it. I'm starting by just responding to what is there. We bring so much meaning to what's around us in life and it's also good to consider what meaning life can bring to us.

My first thoughts are about stopping to look, to appreciate, to enjoy the colour and the form. I could translate that into stopping, resting, taking a break, just being, and more meanings like that.

Or I could consider what the plant is up to...

In a sense the plant has positioned these flowers where there is plenty of sun. The petals are attractive landing pads for bees and guide them to the nectar and pollen at the centre. There are even lines to follow. The nectar, prime objective of the bee, is only to be had by getting into the bit in the middle and picking up pollen too. The plant wants to achieve distribution of its pollen, but at the same time is giving the bees the useful gift of pollen which they need for their own purposes.

Business model or what???

• Encourage people to stop and appreciate what you are offering for its own sake.
• Put  people in a good relaxed, even elevated, mood when they look at your advertising.
• Position yourself well.
• Guide people to what you want them to do.
• Make sure what you want them to do for you is of great benefit to them at the same time.
• Be generous.
