Beat that expat stress
Submitted by Jo Parfitt on Sun, 30/09/2007 - 2:57pm.Moving frequently can be very stressful. I have just broken my foot and have my leg in plaster and have learned that NOT moving is stressful too. I decided to make the time to listen to some of my collection of meditation CDs to see if that helped. It did. So I would like to recommend some one may appeal to busy people like me.

Submitted by Jo Parfitt on Thu, 26/07/2007 - 12:40pm.It was high time I added this reading list to here, so here goes, my favourite books to inspire me as a writer are:
Calling all expat grandparents / grandchildren and owners of both!
Submitted by Jo Parfitt on Thu, 26/07/2007 - 12:38pm.One of the toughest things about going abroad is leaving behind grandparents - or grandchildren. You worry about how you will keep this precious relationship alive and seek ways to survive the separation.
Peter Gosling has been a global grandpa for 16 years. He is also a much-published author and my dad! With my help and that of global parent, Anne Huscroft, he is writing a book on this subject designed to inspire, support , inform and help others with families divided by a plane flight.
Calling all global networkers - Would you like to be in my book?
Submitted by Jo Parfitt on Thu, 26/07/2007 - 12:31pm.In 2004 Jacqui Tillyard and I wrote a book called Grow Your Own Networks. It has been reprinted several times and is now going to be published in a new, bigger and even better edition by Lean Marketing Press. This time we want to share your stories and give you a chance to share your networking successes.
Ambitious coaches need to read this book
Submitted by Jo Parfitt on Sun, 08/07/2007 - 2:01pm.Whether you are a coach already with the ambition to be the best executive coach you can, or, whether you want to hire a coach yourself, it is frightening to know that of the hundreds of thousands out there advertising, they are not all qualified. This book, entitled, Coach and Couch and published in May by INSEAD with Palagrave Macmillan, proves how incredibly talented some of the best executive coaches can be. Ambitious expatriates should ensure that their own coach understands the impact of culture on the personality and the workplace.

Beat Writer's Block with Stephen King
Submitted by Jo Parfitt on Fri, 06/07/2007 - 3:04pm.Beat Writer's Block with Stephen King -
Yes, Stephen King! His book on writing, called ‘On Writing’ is first class and got me back at my manuscript at the double. I’d call it a kick up the arse, but he’d spell it ‘ass’, but you get my gist.
By the way this is FIRST book of his I’ve ever read!
Read it.
