Achieve your goals - starting today!
Two weeks ago I attended a fabulous weekend called Breakthrough to Success, led by the ‘not so Yankee as Tony Robbins’ Chris Howard. It was two and a half days of total self-immersion, lots of high fives and hugs with strangers, pumping music and NLP. It changed my life. Firstly, I realised that my dreams were about doing less not more. And for me, doing little, or nothing, is hardest of all. Ask me to write a book, create a new presentation, speak in front of a crowd or work all weekend and I have no problem. Suggest I might like to meet you for lunch, on WEEKDAY and it’s a different story . . .
So, my goal is to do less for work and more for me and to start looking after myself. I know I need to be answerable to someone in order to keep at my goals, and, being too mean to pay a coach, I came up with a chart instead. I have created a chart for the week, and for each day I have listed the following:
Exercise/me time
Alcohol units
Stretching on waking
Then, at the end of the chart I have the line:
This week I did not check my email on ___________________
Then I have a place where I total the number of hours I have spent doing stuff for me (my target is 5 hours a week), and another where I add up the alcohol units (the safe limit for women is 14 so my goal is to have at least three alcohol free days a week.
Now, if you are reading this, fresh from the gym and with a fruit smoothie in your hand then my own goals may seem ludicrous to you. But for me, they are massive. Now, thanks to my chart I am on track and I feel FABULOUS.
By the way the Breakthrough to Success weekend is free (though worth £895) if you book it via me as I have 50 tickets to give away to the next one, in London 24-26 November. Contact me if you want one. There is no catch. But if you want change your life I suggest you owe it to yourself.
Believe in blue sky
